Dallas Telco’s Smart Start Club is an exclusive program for teens, ages 13-18, who are interested in learning more about managing their money. As a Smart Start Club member, you are eligible for a special savings account and a terrific checking account.
Savings Account:
- You must be age 13 – 18.
- Minimum to open the account is $25.
- Minimum balance to earn dividends on the account is $25.
Smart Start Club Benefits:
- A special welcome packet.
- Earn a higher dividend rate at a lower minimum balance than a regular savings account.
- Chance to enter contests with great prizes.
- Quarterly newsletters that provide credit union youth activity updates, financial tips and other interesting information.
- The ability to conduct your credit union business by telephone via Telco Teller or online with homebanking.
- A special section on the Dallas Telco web site for members of the Smart Start Club.
- Access to CU Succeed - Teens Financial Network, a special web site designed to help teenagers learn more about managing money.
Student Checking Account:
- Available to students ages 13 – 23. For students under 18 an adult joint owner is required.
- $25 to open.
- You must have a legal (state) ID or driver’s license to open a checking account (16 or older).
Student Checking Account Features:
- No monthly fee!
- Earn dividends by maintaining an average daily balance of $500.
- Unlimited check writing.
- Free ATM card.
- Visa Check Card available*.
- Free access to accounts through Telco Teller.
- Free Homebanking.
- Free online bill payment.
- Free E-Statements.
- Free notary service.
- Overdraft protection available from funds in your share savings account.
*Check Cards available pending approval.
To join the Smart Start Club, you will need to open a Dallas Telco savings account. To open your Dallas Telco savings account, you will need to complete a membership application.
